Digital Photography
All of our consultations and treatment procedures include the use of digital photography. Taken in our dental suites, these photos are used during your consultation so that you can view the condition and appearance of your teeth. The images are also referred to during your dental procedures to document the progression of your treatment.
Laser Dentistry
If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while, fear no more. Dr. Betor is one of only a handful of dentists in Ohio offering the latest in laser dentistry. Dr. Betor uses the Waterlase® MD cool water laser to perform many hard and soft tissue procedures with less need for shots, anesthesia and drills. Dr. Betor is also the first dentist in Ohio to receive his Fellowship in Laser Dentistry from the World Clinical Laser Institute.
The Waterlase MD uses “hydrokinetic” energy, combining laser technology with an ultra-fine stream of water, capable of cutting tooth, bone and soft tissue. Many procedures are less painful than if a traditional drill were used. This is due to the numbing effect the water laser has on microscopic nerve endings. You hear only quiet “pops” instead of a high-pitched drill. From decay removal to root canals to cavity preparation, the water laser is the new standard of care in today’s dentistry.

Diagnodent Early Cavity Detection
As one of the first dentists in Northeast Ohio to use the Diagnodent, Dr. Betor knows how important early cavity detection is. The Diagnodent is a non-invasive, hand-held tool that looks like a small box with an attached stylus. The stylus is placed on the patient’s teeth, and uses a specific wavelength of light to expose compromised tooth structure. An audio signal (beep) alerts Dr. Betor and his staff to the degree of decay, allowing for protection and preservation of the tooth substance. Best of all, this early detection boasts 90% accuracy. ViziLite Sheds Some Light on Oral Cancer Detection
More than 30,000 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year. Dr. Betor thinks that number is too high, and is hoping a chemiluminescent light source called the ViziLite Plus will assist him in early oral cancer diagnosis. Patients rinse with a solution, and then the oral cavity is viewed under ViziLite’s diffuse, low-energy wavelength light. Abnormal tissue will be visible under the light. Dr. Betor has made this investment in technology to continue to offer his patients the latest in complete oral health.
